My 5.0 has developed a strange issue over the last few weeks. It will start up and run no problem for however long it wants to, then it will shut off. It will not restart right away, but maybe 5 minutes later it will, 10 minutes it will, or it could be an hour later. There is no set time it does this and it seems as if it has a mind of its own. It never runs bad when it is on the road, but just shuts off and restarts randomly. Any ideas?

Bad ignition components, directly related to heat.
First suspect, TFI module, on the front of the distributor.
Second suspect, PIP module, inside the distributor.
Third suspect, faulty fan clutch causing improper distributor cooling.

also check for poor ground connections. make sure your battery cables are tight etc.
