Questions on supercharging and building 302 for it.
Just looking for some help with many questions about SCing my car. I have a brand new stock short block and purcahsed Z-304 heads, cobra upper and lower intakes. I was looking at the vortech 5-6 and 8-10 psi kits, not sure what would be best. I was recently told the Z-304's wont work with my stock pistons unless I get them cut to fit the valve clearence. I know general knowledge about this stuff and thats it so I have to rely on help form others. Thats why I ended up with Z304 heads(i was told they would work). Im looking to get all new parts so any suggestions on the right stuff for my combo would be greatly appreciated.
The parts I have:
- New Stock Block(want to change cam)
- New Upper and Lower Cobra Intakes
- Used Z-304 Heads. They have valves, valve springs and roller rockers on them.
- Mac shorty headers

I had an 87 with stock internals, votech with smaller pulley, overdrive crank pulley, TFS heads and ran it hard every time I took it out anywhere. Took a beating for 5 years....sold it and the new owner popped a head gasket. Replaced and ran it for another three years before an accident removed it from service. You'd be amazed at the abuse the old 5.0 could take!
