Default Tensioner Pulley removal

Is there a special way to remove this pulley? Im having a heck of a time trying to replace it.

its a left handed thread
87 coupe.96 explorer block.stock bottom end.gt40 heads.trickflow stage 1 cam.edelbrock air gap intake and 600 edelbrock carb.mallory distributor.5 speed with 3.27 gears.mac shorties with flowmaster 40 series
