Default Serious bucking in gear

I have a 94 5.0 that ran beautifully until this morning. It wasn't too bad when I first started driving this morning, after about a mile I realized I had to get home before I get stranded.

By the time I got back I couldn't go more than 10mph because the slightest tap of the gas would result in violent bucking and the exhaust rattling. I checked fuses and all that simple stuff, tried her again and I can't get down the block.

Now, I know I'm leaking coolant but that in itself is just the need for a new hose that cracked. It also looked like the fan motor was smoking when I pulled in.

Could this be as simple as a fuel pump or censor?

I have a few things i can think of here. Gonna start with an odd one. Check your charging system for overcharge. Anything above 14.6v is considered overload.

First gear is def the worst. I'll give it a bit of gas and the rpms will shoot up to 3000 then drop down to 1000 by itself and just keep dropping and raising until something finally catches and I take off.

I had the same problem with my Motorcycle, came out that the problem was with my carbs.

I wanted to run a scanner but Advanced said the car is too old for them and Tuffy wants $50 bucks. I go to a technical institute and have access to a monster Snap On scan tool, hopefully it has the right adapter for this car. I'm nervous about the drive though, school is about 15 miles with necessary freeway time.

You can do a self test for codes with just a paper clip, pencil and paper:

Don't need one of those scanners.

If the bucking you're experiencing is as serious as you describe, dont waste time running codes. The PCM is bound to be full of codes at this point, all of them manufactured by the way its running, and none of them any help. You have a full system-wide malfunction somewhere, whether it be fuel or spark. Start with checking how much voltage is in the system. Then check fuel pressure UNDER LOAD. If all that checks out, time to do ignition electrical diag.

my 94 gt was doing the same thing recently. Seemed like under very light acceleration was when it was at the worst and sometimes the idle was all over the place. Replaced the coil, dist cap(already did plug wires last year) and it seemed to get a little better. Today I replaced the throttle position sensor as well as the idle air control valve and was happy to report that it ran perfectly after. Check and see if you can tell how old those are...

So I got new hosing for the water pump, replaced the fuses I blew not successfully installing my stereo and poof, all system are go.

The only thing left is the fan. The fan itself works, the fuse is fine but the fuse plug isn't getting any resistance. I am going to test everything in that area tomorrow, hopefully its nothing expensive.
