Recent upgrades: New plugs and wires, new O2 sensors, rebuilt transmission 5 months ago, new cold air intake, fuel filter about 5,000 miles ago.

My car runs really sluggish in first gear. I tried to pull out in traffic tonight and gunned on it hard, and the car backfired a couple of times. No problems with acceleration in other gears; just first gear from a stand still. I've noticed this over the last couple of weeks and it seems to be getting worse.

Next time you get less than 1/2 tank of gas, go take a right hand corner pretty hard and nail the throttle coming through it. If the car hesitates coming out of the corner and then suddenly appears to spring to life, replace the gas tank.
