Default possible engine rebuild

This might be a stupid question but can you rebuilt and engine without taking it out of the engine bay and just take out the radiator and off the front bumper to remove the crank or cam?

Remove engine, put engine on motor stand. Now you can walk around, turn over, and make life better.
