how to remove oxygen sensor????
ok, so trying to take off the passenger side cylinder head.
a lot of the header bolts are stripped, so i planned to do what i did when i took the drivers side cylnder head off; i disconnected the header from the exhaust pipe and took the head and header off as one piece.
so, i think this should be easy enough. i go under andthen i see i cant get to the nut at the exhaust pipe flange because the oxygen sensor (i believe its the oxygen sensor) is right in the way. i assume theres no other way for me to get the exhaust pipe off than to take out the sensor.
so, anything special i need to do or just stick a wrench on it an turn? looks pretty cramped there.
i would have tried it already but i dont have the right size wrench for the sensor nut.
anybody know what size it is?
is there a way to get the exhaust pipe off without removing the sensor? (i dont believe so)
thanks in advance for any help

7/8" works fine as well if you have one of those. a trick i've found is put the wrench on it and try it, doubt you'll be able to get it to turn if it's been in a while. so i hit the end of the wrench with a rubber mallot and that usually does the trick. You might possibly need to heat it to get it out depending on how long it's been in there.
however, i believe you can get that nut off without pulling the sensor out. it's a trick but a swivel and midlength socket will get to just about anything.

update:
i couldnt get the exhaust flange bolts off. i tried the swivel but there just wasnt enough room. so i had to take off the O2 sensor.
i bought the appropriate size wrench.
i used the open end at first, but it seemed to be slipping a bit, so i tried the closed end. closed end wouldnt fit over the electrical plug, so i clipped off part of the plug. the plastic part that i guess just stops you from pushing it in too far. its square shaped and sticks up. once i clipped that off, the wrench fit fine. got it on the sensor and a few hammer taps and the sensor was on its way out. nice.
