Default Driveline Maintenance, Two Birds, One Stone

Just need some tips guys. I'm replacing my tranny, upgrading to 26 spline clutch, and a lot more. I bought an unused gforce transmission from a reliable source. I've placed a shifter on it, with lose bolts, and it won't shift into any gear. I have paper work for this thing

Is this think messed up or does it just need some oil and an install?

I'm also going to replace the rear main seal. What kind of non-hardening sealer do I use? And, only pry on the outer edges, right?

The pilot bearing, How do I get that out? Can I rent a tool somewhere?

When the bellhousing becomes, "sorta forged," how do you get it out safely?

I know there were a couple other things lingering in my brain, but those are some good questions.. Thanks in advance guys!

On the rear main seal, do not put a screwdriver between the block and seal. You will damage it. The best way is to stick a prybar or screwdriver against the end of the crank at an angle and push it under the lip of the seal and use the end of the crank to pry it out. When I say the "end of the crank" im referring to the part where the flywheel bolts. DO NOT PRY ON THE SMOOTH CIRCLE PART OF THE CRANK WHERE THE SEAL RIDES! If you do that it will leak. As far as sealer goes thats up to you. I have and havent put silicone on seal edges. They will not leak. If you have a seal that has a rubber edge I wouldnt put it on it.

BOSS HOTROD- For the Rear Main Seal, I bought the Fel-Pro brand, and I I figured for a non-hardening sealer I'd use some Permatex brand stuff. I also don't want to damage, causing a leak, so I'll just maybe use a dental pick and try to pry it against itself?

MJR - I remember being able to shift the tranny out of the car. Is this tranny messed up or just stiff from never being used?

MattKoly - Blind hole puller, CHECK.

On some smaller seals you can pry against the seal itself but not sure how it would work on a rear main.

Put some sealant on flywheel bolts. It will leak oil right by the bolts if not done.

If a puller can't be obtained for removing the pilot bearing, then what method do you suggest to use??

Red Bearing Grease? or Loaf of Bread? hah AND, how important is it, to get that stuff completely out of there when done?
