Seems like a waste of time to me.

It is a waste, but unfortunately there are a lot of people that either can't do the work, are too afraid to do the work, or can afford the parts and to have the work done so they just do a heads/intake swap.

Hell I've seen people put an F303 came in a foxbody with a stock intake and GT40 heads....now that was a real head scratcher to me.

i would assume with edelbrock heads and intake it has a cam in it. the clutch pedal being stiff is normal. especially if youre comparing it to any new model vehicle. even witha new clutch and cable 5.0s have a stiff clutch compared to your average car. but i would change the cable just incase and so it doesnt snap and leave you stranded. the gas mileage is horrible.. i would check to see if its throwing any codes the check for vac leaks and the o2 sensors.. it has to be running super rich. but those 4:56s arent helping at all. are you sure it has 4:56s? that seems pretty nuts. what r u turing for rpm in fifth gear at 65 on the highway? 100 miles to a tank definately tells me something is wrong though. even with everything done to my car i get much better mileage than that driving it around without getting into it hard. i would take the rebuilt engine claim with a grain of salt though. everyone says that when they r trying to sell an older mustang and unless they have receipts i wouldnt believe it. most people save their receipts for that exact reason. i know i did

Not to spoil the fun with the car but 302 cranks from the FOX body are cast.....
Not forged.

i have trickflow twisted wedge heads and trickflow intake manifold with a stock cam. A lot of people thought it didnt make sense to keep the cam stock. I had bought my car from a guy that bought it from another guy but didnt know much about it. Over time since i bought the car (Febuary 2011) has been figured out when the motor was take apart. People say you lose a lot of power without a cam and my heads aren't opening up to their full potential with the stock cam. Getting a trickflow stage 1 cam installed in about 2 weeks or so.
