Default What mass air meter will work best?

I have a 93' cobra/gt with a 331 stroker in it. Has forged internals etc etc vortech v3 self contained charger. I'm currently running 42# injectors with 42# mass air meter and an a1000 fuel pump on stock rails. I recently bought vortech fuel rails which are 1/2" i.d. And a aeromotive eliminator pump and regulator. Will my mass air meter I have work sufficiently enough for that set up or do I need to go bigger? I'm wanting to run e85 on a tune on a flip chip. All I'm needing to finish this project is the -10an lines an the lines for the fuel rails, and some warm weather if anyone has any suggestions as to what would be a good answer or solution to this bigger fuel system would be helpful. Thnx!!

What size is your MAF, and what kind of power are you making/expecting? S/C hate inlet restrictions, the bigger the better....

70mm? It's making around 500 rwhp now. The dyno man told me with the cubic inch motor and that charger running ethanol I could squeeze out in the 700 range up or down But close to that area.

if your tuner knows what he's doing, he'll be able to tell if the maf is to small by watching the meter peg itself on a full pull on the dyno, 70mm is small for what your trying to squeeze out of it, on a 306 with all the bolt ons and a t-trim putting out 12 psi I was close to pegging my meter on ocassion, I was using a pro-m, now I run a 80mm pro-m and 42's, I've yet to have it tuned as I need to install my meth kit still as I'm non-intercooled. so I would say 80-90 mm is the bare min you should go for and most likely 90mm....it'll all depend on how much boost you want to run. In high boost situations, meaning 15+psi you'd peg a 70mm quick under the right conditions

I second what mjr states, your tuner should be able to answer your question for you, backed up with data showing what percentage the MAF and injectors were running at. I'd run at least a 90mm with what you're talking. 42# injectors are okay for 500 hp, but aren't going to cut it for 700hp.

Thanks for all the input. I will ask the dyno man what he suggests and what he runs. I know he has 2 high hp stangs too, one charged and a twin turbo. He's supposed to be the best in Columbus and know many guys who pass up their local guys to make a 1.5 hr trip to Columbus just to go thru him. Other forums mention him as well. I've only talked to him in the phone and thru email and he seems to be very knowledgable. He deals with other cars on tuning but mustangs is what he started out doing. Thanks again on the input, I'll keep you all updated!

I'm an hour from you near Dayton.... I've got a 90mm Pro M on my 89, with 42# injectors, making 425 rwhp. On my 04 Cobra, I've got a 105mm JLT/SCT, with the factory 39# injectors, running 90/92 percent duty cycle (injectors) at 465 rwhp.

Thnx redla. It would be nice to use my injectors I have installed already. But a buddy said the bigger injectors have a better spray pattern. A better spray pattern = better combustion on the same amount if fuel. It would be nice to make what I have work and maximum hp possible. This is all with the big if of me trading it for a 03 cobra
