Transfer issues. :(
So I have come across some trans issues and I'm trying to figure out if a simple fluid change will fix or if I need a whole new one. I got the car from my brother who had the fluid changed at a local jiffy lube. He later complained that from a dead stop it felt like it was slipping then it would catch at about 1500-1700 rpms and drive fine until another dead stop. I got the car and it was doing the same thing but it didn't seem to be getting any worse so I was going to wait until I could do a Manual swap. I recently did sparkplug, wires, cap and rotor on the car and I don't know if it just woke the car up enough to finish off the trans but it started slipping to the point where the car hardly moves and once it gets up to speed it slips every once in a while. it doesn't slip at all in reverse... so is this the result of the lube place using the wrong fluid? Is it just the torque Converter? Do I need a whole new trans?

So what was the reason for the flush?
Was it slipping prior to having it flushed at JL?
Im not going to say that having an auto trans flushed is a bad thing, but depending on who does it , it can either be helpful, or a complete disaster.
the problem is that the big oil change places get tons of cars in all the time, they flush n fill auto trans on a daily basis, so if you have someone flush your trans and they don't take the time to clean out the machines lines prior to hooking it up to your trans , you get some of the last cars fluids and so on . The last car could have had a ton of fine particulate in the fluid , and now yours does as well.
How ever before you trash the trans, I suggest that you check the tv cable at the throttle body and where it mounts to the trans. Look for broken fittings or disconnected ends. The tv cable is an important item that if not adjusted correctly or not connected properly will burn an aod up in short order.
Search google for proper adjustments of the TV cable on your aod trans.
You can try changing the fluid , and filter to see if it clears up, especially if the JL shop dumped a bunch of junk in from there lines by not cleaning the system prior to using it on that car. A clogged up filter will cause issues, as will low fluid.
