5.0 new motor 0 compression
#2
There are a lot of variables here.
Lets look at the most obvious, New rings never ran = 0 oil on the cylinder walls. Sitting for how long? Pour a little oil in each cylinder and manually turn the crank with a breaker bar, several rotations. See if we can get the rings to seat against the cylinders. Now after you rotate the crank by hand 10 or 20 times check compression again.
If you still cant get any compression , you have to start looking at what could cause a 0 compression situation. IE... push rods incorrectly installed/or too long for cam aplication. Was the valve lash set correctly? Were the head gaskets installed and torqued to specifications?

Install spark plugs? Close the pressure relief on the gauge if it has one? Are you sure the gauge is screwing into the heads?
If its not something that blatantly silly, the valves are all way out of adjustment or the push rods are way off length. Did you check every cylinder and get 0 across the board? If so and you checked the valve train over (including cam timing... but getting NOTHING across all 8 would be weird even with horrible timing) and it came up good then its time to start pulling pistons and heads.

Sorry, couldn't pass that up.
OP, who rebuilt this motor? Or did you just buy it this way?
