It worked intermittantly then quit altogether after it sat for a week. I replaced the speed sensor, the needle started working after a few miles of driving. It sat for another week and nothing. I pulled it apart last night and it worked great, then nothing this morning. The cable appeared good, the gear was in good shape too. The 2 wires from the speed sensor are crammed in the grommet but look to be intact. No issues with the odometer, that keeps working and always has.......Any ideas? Thanks

The speed sensor doesn't have anything to do with the speedo, or the odometer. The cable drives them both....

Since your OD is working , I suspect that the speedo gauge itself is bad.

Thanks. There is a speedometer shop here in Milwaukee that I will take it to this winter.

I've got a couple used gauge clusters if you want to go that route. I work in Hartford which is 20-30 min. north of you depending on where in Milwaukee your located.
