Default 1987 AOD tail-shaft bushing/seal replacement, I have a few questions.

Does the transmission need to come out or does this particular trans have a removable tail-shaft?

I am 4000kms from the car, and haven't been under it in MANY years so I do not know off hand.

If the trans has to come out.. I was thinking of doing a shift kit as well as purchasing a stall converter and some 4.11's in the rear-end.

The drive shaft flops around pretty good in the tail housing, so I assume the bushing is just right dicked.

Any helpful words of advice or knowledge? Thanks guys!

mjr46, Yes this is an 87 Mustang 5.0 H.O. and AOD in a 67 Mercury Cougar.

Holley 650 and Edelbrock Performer up top, long tubes and glasspacks out the bottom. Unknown rear end gear, it seems to have posi-traction or at least a welded diff.. haha
