Atomic EFI?

Atomic EFI?
Is anyone running the Atomic EFI? and , If so, what cam do you have?
I am in the process of installing a Painless wiring kit into my 66 and decided on all new gauges and the Atomic EFI since i was redoing it.
I am nearing completion and I notice in the Atomic directions that if you have a cam with a duration greater than 250* that it will not work!
CRAP! I am running a x303 cam. it has a 286* duration. so does this mean i just spent 2500 on a system that wont work? I do have a standard trans if that will make a diff.
If anyone has info, please share. thank you

Why didn't you buy a system that people actually use... like Megasquirt or Holley?
Also, the duration they list is @0.50" lift. Where the spec you gave on the (crap) X-cam is @0.06" lift.

Worth a try to exchange that for something that will work with your existing cam. That is pretty small print stuff to expect the novice builder to catch. Whomever sold it to you has some responsibility to help you out.
Give it a try--all they can say is no.

I have the Atomic EFI on my 66 and have had nothing but problems with it. The car just randomly stalls, eats gas like candy and smokes like crazy. MSD technical support hasn't been helpful and I have seen that the stalling is a known issue with this setup. Has anyone found a solution for this? I am ready to tear it all off.

i had it on my 68 bronco with a 302 and it worked fine. I now have it installed on my 66 mustang and it runs pretty good. I have not driven it yet, only backed it in and out of the driveway. I still have to complete the clean up of the new wiring and get the remainder of the interior back in.
I do know that the cam choice makes a huge difference. My bronco would not even run with the mild cam stetting. It had to have the street cam setting. THe bronco had a very mild cam too.
My mustang must use the performance cam setting or it will not idle. It does have a much much better throttle response as well. I will get it buttoned up this weekend and report backk

Id say so. If I could go back Id leave the stock stuff on car. I was told that with the motor I built for the car Id need a stand-alone efi. Well that turned out to be wrong as my brother's car is a turbo car running stock efi. I had a Fast EZ EFI on the car and couldnt get it to run right so I switched it for a Holley Dominator EFI. Come to find out I had a bad lifter on #5 and was giving me lean issues. The FAST system would probably work on my car now. Im still tuning the Holley system a year later. So yeah If I didnt have so much money and time in the stand-alone Id go back stock.

Go the msd forum and it will explain how to remedy those problems. Its mostly the cam profile and the squirt setting. Also, adjusting the blades will help a ton. Based on the instructions, i was supposed to have the performance cam set with over one full turn in on the blades, however once i switched to a more mild cam setting and closed the blades and reset it helped a ton
