At what temp would you guys say would be the most I could run with my aluminum heads before I should take action and turn the car off so they do not melt. The hottest that ithas gotton so faris 170 just normal driving. I have never went WOT yet and wont for a while cause the motor has about 30 miles on it. I'm running a 3 core radiator with an edelbrock victor water pump with a 6 bladed fan and an air gap intake which might help a little. I'm just wondering what your temps get too with aluminum heads and where is the point to shut it down or turn on the heater?

Well i dont have aluminum heads but mine have had the **** milled out of them and with a 3 core radiator, stock waterpump, and a 160 T-Stat i run no higher than 170 in the middle of summer. And not to mention my block is 60 over.I think you are fine and shouldnt worry.Aluminum heads can take more heat than cast iron because they dissapate it much faster.

aluminum won't melt unless you're doing something seriously f'd up.
But yeah, it can warp. I'd try to keep it under 200, but I don't think you'll hurt it going over a little bit. Just make sure you've got a decent t-stat and your fans work

useless info but a billet aluminum log about 9" diameter will start to get soft at 800 degrees.
and 210 is still safe. max is 275. my truck runs normal at 210 from factory.but not ideal for performance but in the winter youll love that heat from the heater
