Default Paint Suggestions?

Basically, between a motor and suspension my car wont be seeing the inside of a body shop or paint shop for another year.

But, to rememdy the fading paint from the stock, i was wondering if any one could suggest a good flat black paint that i could use as a primer. Most the flat black paints ive been pointed to, (John Deere Blitz Black, PPG) are relativley perminant and not meant to be painted over...

Looking for something better then rustoleum rattle cans, but something i can just spay myself with a basic gun from Harbor Freight.

Any Ideas...

Go to the autos parts store and get some sandable primer. We used some on our car and it's not bad.

I figure i'll wet sand the car and spray it down as i wait for parts...so atleast i wont feel like im not getting anything done.

I'm talking spray can. It really doesn't look bad, and it's held up pretty well

Door skin when I primed it grey,

Fender repair, painted with that same can of grey,

Ended up getting a black can of the primer, not bad looking for primer imo,

I would leave it in like it is. Primer holds moisture and it is not meant to be on a car that long. The car will have rust allover if you use primer.

Not trying to hijack ur post but what sprayer from harbor freight do you plan on using? I was just about to make a post asking what people thought about using a sprayer i saw on the Harbor Freight website. The one I am looking at is the HVLP Turbine Spray System. I'd give the link to it but I'm at work and the computer up here doesn't show us the address bar for some reason.

NOT TRUE! Primer will protect against moisture.
Why not just buff and polish the existing paint and make it look better until you can get it painted. If all that is wrong with it is that it is dull and faded buffing should bring back the shine.

What good would primer be if it sucked up water? I mean, isn't the point to primmer to protect the paint? Primmer sheds water and will seal it up fine.
