50 Resto Economy Block is a champ
Those who are looking for a bottom end replacement for their 5.0 for cheap, the economy short-block from 5.0 resto for only 699 is surprisingly decent quality. It has now made it in my car over 5,000 miles with no problems and as you can see from my Sig, my car is far from stock. Just had to let people in on a great deal.

That's good to hear... I've been looking at engine options for the future and want something that will go for a looooong time and something that'll give me 350-400 HP (supercharged possibly). You think with heads (similar to yours), and everything else needed, and the block you got that it would go 50,000 - 75,000 miles with a supercharger? I wouldn't mind buying that block and slowly buying heads, intake, etc and slowly piecing it together...

i read the same article the only major difference i saw from a stock shortblock depending on year was non forged pistons, other than that it seems to be the same? also have been looking at it as an option as my rear main is leaking on my driveway... hey how hard was it to port you gt40 any tips? thanks mike

ya the only diff is the cast (hyper) pistons.. for double the price you can get the forged.. its ridiculous
notchback your rear main is pretty easy to replace just takes some time.. pull the h-pipe, tranny, bell housing, clutch, flywheel and then you can just pull it out w/ a pick and tap in the new one. you will need an impact gun for the flywheel tho

you can add a power adder no problem as long as u get a good custom tune been running a similar set up (x303 crate motor from frpp all cast parts n hyper pistons) for 3 years at 15 psi and i beat the **** out of the car weekly at the track not one head gasket or other problems at all and i pay that all to my tuner who did the tune. n im going 10.80s on what is probably worse then a stock 5.0ho motor from factory

it doesn't say it in that ad but, I have seen their ads where they advertise the crank being cut up to .02 under. Personally I would be afraid to run one cut that much in a high horsepower/torque application. I thought about getting one listed in the classified for 500 a while back but decided to go with a junkyard engine for that reason.
