Fast and running best isn't an opinion, it either is or it isn't.

I want a respectable ET, and if sound is a byproduct of a well rounded combo, so be it. what makes a car fast in terms of drag racing is planting the power to the pavement and having that well respected ET......that is fact, not sure how you can have an "opinion as to what makes one fast"....it either is or isn't and that is reflected by fact of what et it runs............only opinion that exisists in such a respect is what one considers fast........heck some think my 13 sec 92 is fast....my opinion is it's slow in regards to my 10 sec 85.....I don't worry to much what comes out the tailpipes as far as sound, I raced 2 rides today, one being a monte carlo ss and the other a early 90's efi mustang hatch and both sounded mean as heck and BY SOUND I thought I was gonna get roasted......ended up beating the LX by 1.5 car lengths and the mone carlo by4-5 and the LX had a cam , intake and some other mods......he's lucky he didn't ask what I had, it'd of made him feel bad getting skunked by a nearly stock fox....my point with him, was a mismatched combo that sounded good, didn't put the numbers up.

Hey I agree the 13 second 92 was quick in it's day .It could take the IROC Z 350 .I got one question .You said you beat the LX with a near stock 5.0.How can a near stock 5.0 go 10 second in quarter or were you using another of your Mustang's?I'm not saying you can't but how?I know it the right combination of parts that makes the difference .

no, the 10 sec ride is the white 85 in my sig, the 92 notch was the one I was running today, which is a 13 sec ride...lol the only way I know how to get a stock 5.0 into the 10's would be lots of boost or juice, but then again can you really say it's stock then??? dunno that is a matter of opinion for sure......here's something to look at in the race with the LX..THE TIME SLIP shows he ran a 13.612 to my 13.614, yet I crossed the line a full car ahead, when we launched, I had a .002 reaction to his .037 but he hit the 60ft before me a 1.85 to my 1.87 at the 330 he had a 5.50 to my 5.60 and at the 1/8 he had a 8.62 @ 78.6 to my 8.73 @79.5 , at the 1/8 he was about 3/4 of a car on me, once I hit 3rd is when I close the gap and by the 1000 he had 11.32 to my 11.38 and once I hit 4th is when I really slingshot past him, which is maybe a couple hundred feet before I pass the 1320 marker, I ended up with a 101.23 mph to his 98.12 and even on the time ticket it labels left lane which was me crossing first yet his et was a tad better.....I had to think about it and what I figure is on this run he had a better short track than me and I had better top end, maybe due to gearing, now on a few later runs I did pick up my short track to equal his which got me the best run of the day

Ok guys, I think the point was missed by a mile. I AM NOT building a race/drag car. I said in my original post that I am building a car to drive everyday, and I want to be able to take it on long road trips if I choose. When I talk about weekend fun, I mean cruise ins and playing around, I'm not looking for the best E.T. or breaking the 11 sec. barrier. I want a car that will run good, sound good, and still be a hot rod (not a track car).

funny part is the car is faster with a stock HO cam AND better gas milage vs the B cam. how do i know? BTDT and i degreed my cam in, which i believe you(assuming you're an average gearhead) will not do. you will dot to dot and your performance will not be where it should even for the lackluster B cam. you'll have the 3000rpm lag before it jumps into performance mode and FINALLY you feel "some" power 3000+rpms. the stock HO cam gives you stellar performance all across the board from idle on up. the only way to top that performance is either a lucky cam choice or a custom grind. IMHO you wasted your money, i hope you bought new valve springs to match your cam or expect some valve float. how do i know this? BTDT as well. good luck in your endeavors and i wish you well with your ****ty SADI flex core camshaft.
