Optima Battery for Foxbody...
#13
Well 9 years and 7 months, that'd be a while before I'd need to worry about it I guess LOL! One response was saying that when he/she worked at an auto parts store, they were getting 2 returned a week. Guess I'll just give it a shot, most responses are positive about the Optima.

I never said you can't jump start it. You just can't charge a severely discharged one without a special type of charger. And to the poster who said he had one for 10 years. That was obviously one that wasn't built in Mexico and I agree that ones built in the USA are good batteries. But the ones built in Mexico are junk. Garbage. Trash. However you want to put it. Its just adjustable clutch cables, every once and awhile a good one makes it through but the majority are junk.

I have been fortunate with mine going on 7 years now with no problems. Left my lights on all day one time and killed it. Let it set for abt 30 min and it fired up. Go figure. Obviously not made in Mexico!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they began being made in mexico about 3-4ish years ago... I had an optima in my probe, about 8 years back, it followed me through 5 cars... I had it in my stang until it finally went belly up.
I went through 3 others in 2 years time before I said **** it, and threw in a lead acid battery... and havent changed the battery since.

I work at O'Reilly's and yes, Optima has moved their base of operations and quality is utter **** now. I only sell an Optima when I can't convince the person to buy another. It is seriously complete crap. We're cronstantly warrentying out those batteries. The yellow tops seem to still be alright though. Red tops are a big no.
And as for Duralast Gold being good, PAAAAAAAAAH! Not even in the slightest. I ran one of those and was replacing it every five months here in AZ. Had an Interstate after that that seemed to last forever. Finally switched to my work's brand and am a year with no problems so far.

this duralast gold was bought in 2000, sits in a joy ride car that might crank once every two weeks or be driven to work everyday in one week, its been a great battery. On the note of optima's, I've had two, one has lasted through three vehicles, one of which it was in a wreck with, another i had to trade mout twice before i bought another duralast gold.
