Default gt40 upgrade issues

Just got my engine put together and it idles at 2200rpm. This is what has been done to engine. Gt40 heads,gt40 intake, trickflow stage 1 cam, 75mm throttlebody, BBK cold air intake, x-pipe/flowmaster 40's. Timing is set at 13. I plan on installing 24# injectors when I get sct chip and tune. But until then j want to drive it some. Is the high idle occurring because it needs to be tuned? Also when I pull the dummy plug to set timing, it idles fine..

Try backing the timing off and see if it slows down. if it does it means your balancer with the timing marks has spun.

It will slow down to 1200 rpm but pops through tialpipes. Idles good but runs like a turd. Whay do you mean the balancer has spun?

The engine balancer that the timing marks are on at the bottom front of your engine. It's made of rubber and over time it will wear out and the rubber will spin On it's metal mount throwing off your timing when you use the timing marks and a timing light. Because the marks are no longer in the right position. Hope that makes sense.

+1 ^^^

A quick way to check this is to place a wooden dowel down #1 cyl. and rotate motor by hand to reach TDC (on compression stroke) or at least as close as you can tell. Now look at the timing pointer, it should be pointing at 0' on balancer. If you have access to a dial indicator with a magnetic base, that's a more accurate way to do this. But a dowel will get you close.

base idle is set wrong on your new throttle body.

100% chance.
