Weak is relative. At 2000 RPM the Camaro SS has 50-60 more torque than the Mustang 5.0 and that was very noticable when I test drove both cars within 1hr of each other.
The Mustang did out power the Camaro once you got into the high RPMs.

Curiousty led me to find some stock dyno charts to see where these motors make power.

I didn't find much but the ones I looked at claimed to be stock. I know dyno cals can be tweeked to give higher or lower numbers. I was more looking at the hp/tq power curves.

Below 60000 RPMs the Camaro has more hp & tq then dies off rapidly. The Mustang 5.0 loves the RPMS and dominates above 6000 RPMs. This is what I felt when driving the automatics.

When I drove the 5.0 Mustang manual with the 3.73 gears it didn't feel weak down low so with the gearing advantage it was faster than the Camaro SS manual throughout the RPM range.

Hopefully GM puts the Camaro on a diet & sheds a few hundred pounds which will make Ford up the anty even more leaving even better cars for us to choose from.

Here's the dyno charts I was looking at.

I understand what you mean. I did a little overlay comparison for myself to take a look at the numbers, came out to:

Mustang GT:
2000 RPM HP/TQ: 100/260
3000 RPM HP/TQ: 175/300
4000 RPM HP/TQ: 265/345
(Peak TQ)4250 HP/TQ: 305/365
5000 RPM HP/TQ: 340/355
6000 RPM HP/TQ: 375/330
6500 HP/TQ: 395/320

Camaro SS:
2000 RPM HP/TQ: 120/310
3000 RPM HP/TQ: 190/325
4000 RPM HP/TQ: 270/360
(Peak TQ)4550 RPM HP/TQ: 325/370
5000 RPM HP/TQ: 345/360
6000 RPM HP/TQ: 365/315
6500 RPM HP/TQ: 340/275

Looking at them in this form, I can see how that extra 50 or so lb/ft off the line would make a difference, seat of the pants. When taking into consideration gearing and vehicle weight, it's no wonder why the GT feels so much more potent once you surpass that golden 3000 RPM point, with nearly a 100 horsepower difference in 3000-4000 RPM.

Also, looking at it this way definitely helps my ego when considering this is a 5.0L vs a 6.2L motor, haha. The fact the torque is even close to comparable at any point of the graph (much higher in some points) is terrific.

While I like my 5.0 I believe those charts to be misleading. RWHP is roughly similar on the same dyno. The numbers you used for the 5.0 come from a known suspect dyno. The Camaro has a little advantage at the flywheel but more drivetrain losses to the larger trans and IRS rear axle. I suspect on the same dyno the difference would be around 30 rwhp at 3000 rpm.
