2012 5.0 #8 failure?

Reading the story of the guy who is making a tremendous deal about his #8 cylinder does share some similar actions like jmatero's.
And though I am a serious propent for consumer protection and strongly agains summary denial of warranty work, I am damn curious why that guy did not also try to attack the aftermarket guys fur his ****ed up car?
As I always say, if the mod or improper installation of the mod did indeed ruin the car then yes you should be denied warranty work. And on the side of consumer protection, the hack aftermarket guy should be forced to pay up. Now if the owner screws up installing it, then of course no one, Ford or the aftermarket guys, should be blamed. The costs should therefore go to the owner because he screwed up his own car when the car or the mods would not have otherwise caused any problems.

I have a very early 2012 model, I got it in may of 2011. I put a CAI and tune on it within a week of buying it. I still haven't had any problems with it. I had an SCT tune, a BBR tune and a Steeda tune... still using the steeda tune and liking it.
There are a lot of suggestions that are plausible for what caused the damage. Some say it happens after extended high MPH runs (like over 140mph) some from using low octane gas. some blame the tunes themselves, (knock sensors).
I don't think we'll ever know, but I haven't heard a report of an issue in quite awhile.
As far as the OP goes, as others said, it isn't a spark plug issue, that is certain.

All I know of so far is only one case of #8 cylinder failure, and that one was covered by Bama's #8 cylinder warranty when you buy their tunes.
Bama stepped up and stood up for what they warrantied for, a complete positive mark in my books.
Other than this case, I have not heard of any others anywhere.
