Default factory warranty without cats

I've looked on the net and am unable to find the answer I am looking for.
I really want to do my whole exhaust system but I don't know how removing the cats will affect my factory warranty.
Does anyone have any experience with this that they could share?

Based on what I've read and talking to ford, removing cats/headers is not advised. Majority favor cat back/axle back for warranty purposes.

Once they find a problem and it looks like something has been changed, that's there way out if needed.

If you google warranty, it will tell you what ford suggest advisor look for. It even states axle back, but that's not likely to cause an issue.

Remember: Only if it affects the part that broke.... I feel removing cats could cause a lot of issues in FORDS eyes.

I'm no mechanic, maybe more will chime in.

To remove the cats, you will likely have to retune the car. And that is exactly what will screw up your warranty.

what about leaving the cats and removing the muffler, and just running straight pipes after the cats, will that void it?

read up on warranty stuff. nothing can void a warranty. But you can be denied a claim if a mod caused a problem. so far they have denied claims to repair piston #8 failing after a tune, although most people with the problems now are being told to keep quiet so they apparently are working some sort of deal out on it.

If you mod w/o tuning you aren't gaining performance, atleast not a measureable/meaningful amount. So you either risk #8 piston issue with some sort of deal with ford being worked out or you are going to be basically stock power-wise. deleting the cats will require a retune to atleast disable the rear o2 sensors or you'll get a check engine light. the cat-back exhaust is mostly for sound until i hear something from a reputable tuner saying otherwise you are looking at 5whp gain.

yep, here is the tsb thread

https://mustangforums.com/forum/5-0l...n-failure.html

if #8 piston is damaged and you have mods they'll deny warranty on fixing it. most people have to pay 4,000,-7,000 to fix the problem. and most of these people are just running a tune only or cai+tune.

that's why i call my vehicle 2012 piston popper.
