That looks great! What model do you recommend for someone who does mostly city driving?

I was completely happy with the 8500 X50 but did upgrade to the 9500ix recently and put the x50 in my wife's car.

Both work great in my opinion.

The X50 is a lot less expensive but the 9500ix has a lot of advanced features.

Here are the links to each to compare

So, i could just wire it through a fuse box into the two dome lights in my car?

Any constant 12VDC source (preferably shuts off when the ignition is off) will do. If you use the dome lights, be sure first that your power source stays on AFTER the lights go out. But then you may be in a situation where the detector will stay on after you shut the car off.

I think the only option i would have would be to try and wire it to my dome light. I will have to check what you said nuke thanks

if you don't have a mirror that has switched power supplied to it for features like auto-dimming, map lights, compass/temperature, or On-Star our Invisicord unfortunately won't work for you.

For those of you that do, check this out - Very clean install!

Good luck.
The S197 dome lights dont work like dome lights of yesteryear.

There is switched 12V for the ElectroChromatic mirror option.
Circuit 46, Connector C919 in the headliner area, Violet wire,
Fuse 7 in the SJB, Hot in Run or ACC.

Here are a couple of pics of my hardwired radar detector. I ran the cord into my headliner, down the passenger side a pillar, and into the passenger footwell fuse box. I used either fuse spot 13 or 14, i cant remember, but you can match it up with the picture. I used the "Add a circuit" fuse adapter from advance auto parts. It plugs into a fuse spot in your fuse box and gives you a power lead off of it. You then plug the normal fuse into the other slot on the "add a circuit" and attach your radar detector hot wire to the lead coming off of the "add a circuit." Then you just attach the ground to any metal screw or bolt you like. HTH!

Thanks for that. I just about tossed a grenade in the car on this before I saw this post. How could hit have been one of the most difficult installs I've done...

Anyway... thanks again.

Anyone else using a Beltronics Pro RX65? Hope it's good, cuz I just spent 2 friggin hours wiring it in.
