I have an offroad H pipe from pypes and it sounds pretty good although when I get on the throttle it makes a loud clapping noise at certain RPMs and kinda sounds like shiit. Will high flow cats solve that problem?

Dude, I just had the same exact problem! If you go down a couple pages you'll see my long post about it, including some videos I took. I'm happy to say that my problem was solved on Monday, though.

I took the car to a local exhaust shop and had two resonators (glass packs) welded in just in front of the rear axle. Crappy noise gone! It quieted it down somewhat, but still sounds awesome when you get on the gas.

 

Yes, high flow cats or resonators should fix that problem for you.

 

So you got familiarized with the dreaded "trumpet" huh? Yeah, it does sound like crap, I agree. Some hi-flow cats will fix it. One of the main reasons I run cats is because of that noise.

Or like Chris07 said/did, pipe some resonators inline down the way.

 

sounds good. I wasnt sure if I wanted to just wait until I get some long tubes but I think Ill try the resonators or cats first. I think the resonators are probably easier and cheaper to install but I like the fact that the cats may eliminate the carbon buildup on my exhaust tips. But it look slike either one will solve the problem. Thanks for the info!

 

high flow cats give that deep sound. I just noticed but my car sounds so bad *** with the deep backfire.
