Default problems with my motor

Ok so i i got my transmission in (t5) and now the motor is running like **** shaking and stuff all most like it has a missfire... so i changed all the plugs and still it does the same thing. Now my question is regarding the flywheel my old transmission a c4 has i believe the 24 oz flywheel. does a manual transmission have differant weight fly wheels?

Where did you get the flywheel from? should be a 28.2oz imbalance. If you pulled it off your 302, it's wrong. 302's have a 50oz imbalance. Same goes for the balancer.

yeah off a 87 LX 5.0. Today i am gonna try and find the right one i was told one off like a 1989 f-150 manual would work.

also i was told putting the wrong flywheel on can severely hurt your motor. is this damage instantly? because i took it up my block twice to see how the transmission shifted. i hope i didnt damage my bearings =(

There's your problem then. If you do go the junkyard route, instead of buying a new one, make absolutely sure it is a 351, not a 302. You could get a new one for a couple hundred bucks though, spend a wee bit more, about 300 and you could get an aluminum one, which is the route I would go, personally.

Yes it can severely hurt your engine, but no it's not instantaneous. Chances are doing the little bit of driving you have done, you would not have hurt anything.

Make sure to get the right balancer for it too, as the balancer of a 5.0 also has a 50oz imbalance.

ya the balancer on it came with the motor. Should i use the clutch and pressure plate from the junk truck?

my main question is does the incorrect flywheel make your car very very slow. Like my mustang has no ***** at all it wouldn't even really spin first unless i were to really get on it.

What transmission bell housing are you running? If it is a stock T 5 you will not get a 28 once 351 flywheel off a truck to work. 164 tooth truck set up will not run where a 157 tooth Mustang set up goes.

Good luck with your search,

Joe
