No idea. I had a shop take care of the shortblock. Do you think they are liable if something is wrong internally.

And why would a lifter be bad if the heads were fine when I took em off the car?

Alot of times when a hydraulic lifter bleeds down completely, it doesn't want to pump back up. I am not sure why it happens, but I have seen it happen on three or four different motors. It's worth a look.

My friend and his dad just listened to the car. They don't think its a rod bearing, they think its something in the trans/flywheel area.

hehe, yeah I thought so too, mainly because of how loud the knocking is in that area. I used a stethoscope and it damn near deafened me on the bellhousing of the tranny. That is what prompted me to rebuild it. After finding jack **** during the rebuild, I am fairly confident that it's not in that area.

When you do finally figure out what it is, please let me know because I think we have the exact same problem.

That's good. I hope it's something small.

Indeed it was lol. The damn EGR cap I put on wasn't tight and was rattling around.

Now, there is another noise. I can't hear it at idle (at least not with the V1 going), and when I rev it up I can't seem to hear it. I only here it under load. Friend thinks it a lash adjuster. Its not a knock, more like a tap only a medium pitched. (not low like a knock or high like a valve tap).
