damn, well after i get everything on and check the timing marks the car wont start. turns over freely and doesn't seem to be making contact anywhere. it sounds like it wants to start for a second but then nothing. any ideas? i figure the timing is just really off since the old belt was stretched all to hell

Hi,

Make sure the timing marks line up correctly, then manually rotate the crankshaft 2 times. On the second time of turning the crank, the timing mark lines should all line up (The crank will turn 2 times for every one turn of the camshaft).

You didnt damage the crank sensor or wiring did you? as thats located close to the crank shaft pulley.

Id start checking for basics such as the CEL, if you have fuel and if you have spark.

got fuel, got spark, everything lines up. could the crank sensor get messed up if i used a impact? everything was pretty locked up so a bit of banging was needed to knock things loose. where exactly is the crank sensor located?

Hi,

The CKP sensor should be located behind the crank pulley. On the 93 2.3 Mustang that i have, the CKP is a dual hall effect sensor. It also uses the vanes from the crank pulley for induction.
The test it, you can ohm the sensor. I believe it should be in the 200ohm range but id try to find the exact specs for your year model.

However, if you have spark, the CKP isnt the problem....

Whats your Fuel Pressure at? How strong is your spark? Did you try to start it with the SPOUT out? Can you gear the fuel pump prime?

Is the CEL on?

Hi I have a 95 eclipse and a 2000 mustang. I had a problem with my eclipse it would just stall and it turned out to be a broken crankshaft [sensor wire]. I tried everything and spent about $800 trying to figure it out, maybe this will help???
