Default Cleaning Gauge Lens in Dash

I am restoring a 1969 Mustang. Currently reworking the dash. The lens are cloudy on the gauges. I remember seeing someone mention a great way to clean the lens by dipping them in something and letting them set. I did a search and can not find anything. Does anyone have recommendation on cleaning the lens on the gauges?

Thanks,

Barry

I've had good results with this:

Definitely not dip and soak method, but rather a bit of elbow grease type. Works great on removing scratches and other imperfections from clear plastics. Can pick it up at most boat supply stores.

Sometimes you can get it at auto parts stores. We carry here at the Napa I work at, but not all Napa stores carry it or can even order it.

That's definitely the route I'd recommend.

The stuff he linked you to works but why not just replace it.

When lenses are scratched from careless cleaning, a good plastic polish will clear them pretty well. When they are cloudy, especially common on clocks, they are toast, and should be replaced. The 69 instrument lenses, and the round clock lens, are available new.

If you have the gauge cluster apart, I would simply replace the plastic, I did. It was not expensive now it is crystal clear.
