Me too! ;-) Fortunately for me, the dealership is within walking distance from work... so I'll drop it off and have myself a nice little stroll this AM.

Too bad I don't have a hitch on teh car yet... otherwise, I'd jam the bike rack in there and roll on a classic Raleigh....

Oh well... feet were invented first I suppose. :-)

 

Hah! Service manager called me and stated that this odd noise is absolutely exhaust related and that there are superfluous hangers on there that hold the exhaust in place during assembly of the car. Apparantly there's a TSB pursuant to their removal.

So off they'll come today. Done, done and DONE.

Silly stuff......

 

I'm somewhat familiar with the TSB's and don't recall one about "superfluous" exhaust hangers. If you get a chance, find out which TSB that is.

 

TSB or not.... whatever they did had nothing to do with the problem. Pisses me off as I asked them to go over the entire powertrain... which they SAY they did. I believe it's in the trans / clutch or flywheel... possibly even the driveshaft but they SAID that it's fine.

They will be hearing from me on Monday. I don't believe they test drove the car at all.... I should have noted the mileage. :-| Is it me... or are all dealerships lame?

Well.... supposedly they looked over the entire power train and pronounced it "OK". At this point... obviously.... it would seem they did not.

If it were not against "insurance regulations" I would at this point insist I be with the tech in the shop when they look it over. As it is, I might insist on taking the tech for a ride in it to identify exactly what it is I'm hearing.

 

Initial TSB pursuant to exhaust rattle is 08-3-4

AND.... the bottom line as to what my issue is was perfectly spelled out in TSB 08-8-5

Unfortunatly, according to the TSB for my car in order to eliminate the noise one must replace the flywheel, clutch disc and clutch pressure plate.

What's even stranger is.... that this noise... which they very aptly descrived as sounding like an helicopter.....

HAS NO EFFECT ON VEHICLE PERFORMANCE OR DURABILITY

If the car were still under original warranty they would fix it at no cost. I had the service manager write it up and I presented the writeup to the dealership I bought the car from... but to be honest, pursuant to the aforementioned, I seriously doubt they will do anything for me... so my choices are...

Pay to have it fixed out of pocket....

or

Just live with it.

Maybe I'll just keep the cranked up.
