99 Mustang drivers side Door won't shut
Hello, I have a 99 ford mustang and my drivers side door won't close. It appears that where normally the striking pin would cause the door lock mechanism to lock into place (close the door) it instead does not lock into place. To be clear, I have verified that the mechanism is not in a closed position, it does not bounce back at me and I have tried forcing it closed with a tool, it is just no longer locking in place when actuated.
Also, sorry if my jargon is way off. I am no mechanic.

Is the door sagging? You could try picking up on the door and see if it will latch. One of my old cars started doing this when the door pins got to worn out. The door dropped to much to hit the pin correctly. Good luck finding the problem.

Sorry, no. There is a mechanism that makes contact with that little bar on the inside of the door, That mechanism does not lock into place. It moves freely back and forth it just doesnt lock. On the passenger door I can push it back and it locks into place, on the drivers side door I push it back and it does not lock into place. I need to know whether I need to replace that mechanism inside the door or whether there is something else connected to that that causes it to lock.
