Launch control isn't likely to produce the best results IMHO, its going to be consistent and produce better results for drivers like me (who suck). I don't see the good drivers having a problem beating its results.

^ true. it's likely to be more consistent and will make it much easier when on a lackluster tire like stock. but once you get a good slick on there imo the l/c will hold you back.

would be nice to see Ford produce a bligger displacement aluminum engine and option the supercharger as an add on to save the car from the Gas Guzzler tax

Well what I mean is to have a N/A big block WITH BIG NUMBERS without the gas tax and option the blower seperate.

This will provide you more BASE power and you will pay less for the car and taxes.

Every option is tax paid during the entire loan tem, ie 35 k is 2,800 tax @ 8%
40 k is 3,800 tax @8 %
With/Without blower. You see not only do you pay for the blower, the tax will add an additional
$1000 A YEAR to your pocket or roughly 5 k est for the setup and 7,000 over the loan itself on a 7 year loan, meaing the blower will cost $12,000 on a 7 year loan total.

If you are buying a car on a 6 or 7 year loan, you can't afford it or you don't have enough of a downpayment...

As for the Launch control, Ford added it to help get the power to the ground on street tires. Something the 06 to 12 models have issues doing and why their '60 and 0-60 mph sucked for a car that had the power to do so much better.

On slicks or drag radials I see no reason why a decent driver couldn't match or beat that system.

I don't pay taxes on vehicles in MT... and the GT500 doesn't have the gas guzzler tax so why would they make a vehicle that does just to have a cheaper base car? thats what the Boss 302 or 5.0 is for, and the 5.0 is a giant engine.. not in displacement but the size of it is. and who gets a 7 year loan on a car or pays 8%? should be able to find 0%-5% max right now. and if you are saying a 5k option (like going from a base GT to a premium) costs 12k once you factor everything in... i don't know if I believe that, maybe if you pay tax on your vehicle and get a bad interest rate for a long loan term it's possible.

basically you are looking at 30K for a GT 42K for a Boss and 55K for a GT500. I think those are base MSRP, could be wrong. with options they go up to near the next tier's base price. I'm pretty sure the 5.8L is lower compression for the boost, so w/o the blower it is close to Boss territory in power, so that wouldn't do it. and it wouldn't be cost effective to add yet another option and another engine between the boss and GT500.

As far as performance on these new GT500s, for being over $20,000 more the 5.0 gives you better bang for the buck, but it isn't a GT500, which i don't care about anyway. pretty cool for a bolt-on only mustang to be so fast though.

Now what i'd love to see is a $5-$7k option to s/c a 5.0 from the factory.. that'd be sweet.. i'd get a base GT with a supercharger for 35k, even if it's only like a 75hp increase

Someone said taht slicks and skinnys, 4.10s, long tubes, new intake and tune were the only mods..

I wonder why they arent doing pully swaps and bumping the boost up. Seems like a massive difference for the mods

20 mph and almost 2 seconds
