New belt making my 0-60 slower!
Hello, i posted a thread on here about how my 2000 automatic gt sqeaked on high rpm and someone told me to change the serpentine belt. i did that, it stopped squeaking. but my 0-60 went from a 6.4 to a 7.6 or so. Why did this happen? i ordered my belt from american muscle . com so it was original and a good brand. Someone please advise me on what to do. i want that extra second back.

Since your belt was slipping, the accessories were probably being turned slower than they were intended to (and thus were causing less drag on your engine). You could try installing a set of underdrive pulleys to "regain" some of the performance you lost.

I can promise you that you will not gain a full second in 0-60 time with underdrive pullies nor were your accessories "slipping" and freeing up enough horsepower to give you the extra second.
I'm not sure what the cause of your cars sudden sluggishness is but unless you did something very wrong the belt is not going to be your issue.
