Cleaning engine???
I have a 2003 Mustang gt and i'm about to hit 109k miles so i really need to clean my engine. i went to the store and bought the product "gunk", but now all i need to know is what in my engine do i need to cover it up to prevent it from getting wet. I've heard that i need to cover my air filter and also cover my alternator. Is this true? and also is there anything else that shouldn't get water on the engine?

i spray mine off from time to time. anything under there can get wet. it is a car after all. i would try to not stick the hose right on the alt. if you have an exposed air filter, stay away from that. let it dry good before starting up and don't wash motor when hot. i like simple green. works good and not too strong.

Just cover your battery, alternator, and air filter and clean away. Also I wouldn't directly spray it on the cops either but it wont hurt them, if you are going to do it think of it this way, use the water just to rinse it off not power wash anything off. If something is stuck on there use a good degrease and a brush, then just rinse it away.
Also before you start that engine afterwards I would let it dry off a little and I would blow out the spark plug holes.
