(Shaker 500) Adding 1 amp, 1 sub, that's it.
Okay, here is what I know:
In order to leave everything stock and just add one amp/one sub, I have to tap into the wires going from the factory amp to the 8" subs in the front doors. I have to attach those wires to a LOC80 from Scosche. That will give me RCA's for my amp, but I also need to add the USAmps VLS-1 to clean up the signal before the amp. I know facing the sub and port into the back of the seat will give me the most SPL in cabin. I know I need to dynomat the hell out of the trunk.
Here is what I need to know:
What color wires run to the left sub? Right sub?
Where is the factory sub amp?
Where do you run the power wire throught he firewall?
What is the largest box I can put in the trunk, and still be able to take in and out in one peice?
Thanks for your help.

what is the box tuned at?
you can try to run the wire through an exsiting rubber grommet. or you can drill a hole and install a grommet to run your wire through.
as far as the color of wires not sure. check this site out and see if their is any info. www.the12volt.com

In a hatchback, that would be correct.
It feels that way in a mustang because it will shake the car more firing port and sub at the rear trunk wall, but the SPL would be higher with both port and sub firing directly into the cabin with the rear seats folded down.
I found the factory Shaker 500 Amps. That's right, there is one amp for each 8" sub. They are in the driver side kick panel area. The wires coming out of those amps going to the subs are the wires (the only wires) to tap into for a line output converter. I am running RCA's from the LOC to a RCA ground loop processor (cleans out any motor noise), and then to a US-AMPS Signal processor (allows me to pump up the signal if it's weak), and then to my amp for the sub (1600W @ 1ohm). Clean, loud, and tunable signal.

the theory that I had heard about the sq being better while facing backwards had something to do with the wave length of the bass note and less cancellations. I was basing my opinion on 10+ yrs of install experience and the countless systems that I built and tuned in that time, where did you get yours? Hatchbacks tend to sound better with the subs facing up towards the hatch IMO.

If you wonder where I get my experience from, you can check the cardboard boxes Hollywood Excursion subwoofers were sold in. My name is on the box. 2 10"s, 153dB, 15 trophies. That was back in 2000.
