Shaker 1000 amp inputs line or speaker level?
My Shaker 1000 trunk subs are popping when I lock/unlock the doors or insert the key in the ignition. I don't really want to mess with troubleshooting, as I have an Alpine MRV-t420 bass amp and 12" sub in an enclosure just taking up space in my house.
Wondering:
Quick update: Aftermarket amp calls for 50 amp fuse at battery, so think I'm good on the wiring issue (fuses are 30a each, I can swap to two 25's). Still hoping for an answer on input level.
Wondering:
- Are the inputs to the subwoofer amps RCA or speaker-level?
- If I combine the 12v and grounds from the factory amps, is that enough juice to power a 340 watt amp or do I need to run new lines?

The stock wiring is always as small as they could possibly be, I would recomend new wires since at the least you will be running new signal/rca wires. If your stock amp has a 30 amp fuse and you put a 50 in there you might have just increased the fuse size to the point the wire might burn before the fuse. Swapping two 25 amp fuses in a place that is rated to carry 30 amps will not end well. You have just made it so that the stock wiring ran(which again is always the smallest they can use) will now be trying to carry %40 more current at peak spikes.
The stock deck has no rca outputs. If you want to hook that deck up to an aftermarket amp you will need to get a little box call a line out converter(LOC) or look to see if your amp has an input labeled "high level" and you can use that.
