Adding mid sub speakers in doors on non Shaker system

Adding mid sub speakers in doors on non Shaker system
I have a 2013 base model V6 with 4 speaker setup. My door panels do not have the mid sub speaker baffles found on the Shaker systems.
Do I need to buy the door panels with mid sub speaker baffles on the door skins if I want to add the subs similar to the Shaker system?
Has anyone had any luck cutting the door panels to add the subs after the fact?
