I think they top out realistically at about 550 Hp...That's pretty thin ice but doable
700 to 800 hp might be theoretically possible for a a brief time.
So a 500 Hp setup is probably a realistic but not practical number.
325 to 400 hp is a more practical hp target.

I have heard about 450 with a stock block, + another 50 with a main stud girdle.... so I say take these #s -25 HP for a safety margin.
Shell out a couple of grand or so for an aftermarket block and you can do a lot more....
but, if you are going to spend that kind of money, you are better off starting with a bigger platform, like a 351 or even an FE based engine instead, IMO of course.
