Default 65 Mustang convertible rebuild, again.

Hi,

I'm putting up a few of my Mustang pics to get some restoration ideas and give myself a little motivation.

This car was handed down to me ~1995 after being parked for ~10 years. I went through it replacing the interior(everything), motor, top, front-end bushings, rims, rear end and more.

Quick stats:
Motor: Standard 289 with performer manifold and 4 barrel edelbrock carb.
Exhaust: JBA shorty headers, into an h-pipe, then 2.5" pipes go through Borla mufflers.
Transmission: Stock C4 that was rebuilt before it was originally parked.
Rear end: It has a rebuilt 8" nonposi, newer heavy duty leaf springs & Gabriel strider socks.
Front end: Negative wedge kit, Eibach progressive rate coil springs, dual reservoir PDB conversion using granada spindles, new flaming river steering box, 15x7 rally rims.
Stereo(important for a cruiser): Eclipse deck, JBL seperates, and the truck has a huge box with some 12's.

I have a few goodies that were never put in the car, like a fireball cam and roller rockers.

I want this vehicle to be safe solid cruiser when its completed.

Things that don't work or need repair:
  • Top needs to be replaced, some of the seams are beginning to go away.
  • It needs some wiring love. The turn signals and brake lights aren't working.
  • Vynil on drivers seat and door panels is cracking.
  • I know it has to be painted. I pretty sure I can do a rough prep if not more.

A few things I would like but may not be able to afford right now.
  • The TCP coil-over conversions - Im not sure I would see much benefit here.
  • 347 stroker with 4 speed toploader behind it(I might have to find a way for this one)
  • posi rear end with TCP style sub frame goodies

Thanks for looking, let me know if you have any ideas or feedback.

Welcome to MF!
Great car! all the makings of a beautiful cruiser. First Gen verts are classy cars.

Best way to come up with ideas is to check out other peoples pics, links, etc. Then when you see something different or cool, ask!
