Default My wiring is screwed do I really have to have any? ha

I have no key nor do I really want one. I want a toggle switch to power the accessories and a push button to start the car. I have installed a Mallory 6 A ignition system so I'm not using any of the original wiring to run the car. I'm going to wire in a hidden kill switch for security.

My starter switch has 5 wires. 2 that are red with a green stripe, 2 are black and one is yellow. What do these wires do? Has anyone tried this? Can anyone tell me how to pull this off?

Get a test light,,,

Find the hot wire...

One at a time touch the remaining wires to the hot wire.

When you find the one that engages the starter, hook this wire to a push button, hook the other end of the pushbutton switch to the hot wire.

The wires on the center terminal of the stock ignition switch are the accessory wires, hook one end of a toggle switch to these wires and the other end of the toggle switch to the hot wire.

The wires that remain should be the ignition wires/ignition circuit. Same thing, hook these wires to one terminal on a toggle switch, the other terminal of the toggle switch to the hot wire.

ALL of these connections must be of the utmost integrity. A short circuit on ANY of these wires or switches has the potential to burn your car down and even your house if you have an attached garage.

The switches at AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc. are NOT good enough to use for this. Stock ignition switches are "top notch" and these pretty much need to be replaced with top notch switches.

Random question... Is this a purely track car... or a Street Car?...

street car but not a daily driver. I think I'm gonna hide the starter button under the carpet on the floor board somehow near the high beams so it will start with a foot press. I'm putting another one in the engine bay for when I'm working on the engine. I bought 2 of the starter switches from Jegs. I'm running new wires from the solenoid for this so All I need from the starter switch is the accessory leads. seems like that should be the 2 reds and the 2 black are grounds. does that sound right.

I was gonna say, if it's a daily driver your kinda setting yourself up there for anything that may happen. Being as it doesn't have keys it would be easier to steal especially without being able to lock the doors. Though poppers would probably substatute that. But if it's just gonna be a weekend runner I guess that's cool.

I would just fix it the right way. The more out of place wiring you have the more trouble it creates if you ask me.

people have spliced in all kinds of funky stuff over the years so a lot of it is already jacked. Thats what I'm trying to bypass. It is a weekend runner and since it have a Mallory Ignition I can install a hidden Kill switch for security.
