It certainly does seem farfetched, but it doesn't really make much sense that the people involved (my brother-in-law, his army buddy who supposedly saw the cars in person, and the 65-year-old friend and neighbor who claims to be friends with the lady) would be lying, in on some sort of elaborate scheme..

All I can do is go check it out. If it doesn't pan out, I wasted a trip. Shrug.

Make sure the vin is the same there is a hidden one under the passenger side fender.Worse case its a fastback that looks like a Shelby then you offer them less.

My moms friends husband bought a fully restored 65-66 fastback and a ready to be reassembled 65-66 vert for 20k so I could believe it.

I'm highly skeptical of the whole thing, but I'm doing some detective work. Odds are that it's BS, but we'll see.. Stranger things have happened..

So if you don't check it out hmmmmmmm..... and it turns out to be the real deal? I missed a 65 GT350 by minutes that went for 4K. If nothing else, the hunt is part of the fun.

I agree, but when it costs $700 and takes 36 hours (of nonstop driving) just to go check it out, you want to be as sure as you can before deciding to make the trip.

At this point, I'm not so sure about this car..Not having any pictures or a VIN, for all I know it's a figment of everyone's imagination.. :\

I just don't understand why some old lady would only sell the cars as a pair, especially when they two completely different cars. If I was trying to sell something like that I would sell them individually. I could see it if one was say a 65 Mustang in decent condition and the other a 66 Mustang parts car.

Its been like 8 ot 10 years, After thinking more about it I think it may have been 400 bucks. I hesitated on looking at the car for 3 days and it was a mistake. Thats one that I've kicked myself in the pants several times for.

Once I have pics and a VIN, it's probably enough for me to make the trip to check it out. I'm still waiting at this point..
