My 1971 Spring Sport Coupe
Here's my baby settling into her new home until I get her drivetrain back in. For those of you who don't know what the Spring Sport is, it was a mach 1 styling package offered in 71 between March and May, some info on it can be found here:

Production numbers are officially unknown. I talked to a few historically knowledgeable members of the Mustang Club of America and they told me that Ford actually lost/threw out info on some rare models due to them thinking it wasn't important to keep around, but I don't totally believe that because that just sounds nuts! The VIN is the same as a bone stock coupe though, so there's no way to get a Marti Report for it. Alot of reputable Ford/Mustang historians estimate that either 500 were ever made or 500 still exist in a form that make them identifiable as Spring Sports. And I have one, and here she is!
And don't worry, I'm working on getting the windshield banner removed, I drove the car back when I was 19..young, dumb and full of...you know. Haha!
Gonna have to clean out the building over the next day or two and move my parts/tools in too, but other than that some serious wrench time is gonna come to her in the near future, pretty stoked!

The Spring Sports Coupe was dressed up to simulate a 351 Boss, with quite a long list of wanted features such as: Boss side stripes (no lettering), NASA hood, Mach 1 grille w/ "sport" lamps, E70 x 14" whitewalls, hubcaps w/ trim rings, dual sport mirrors, and the Mach 1's coordinated moulding/bumper organization. It was officially called the 'hardtop special value package', and was scheduled to be offered from March through May of '71. But what i have read was they was the left over 71 cars dressed up to sell when the 72 model came out.

Most sources I've found agree that they were sold in a 3 month time period of March through May of 71 to "jump start" sales interest in the mach 1 with the new body style. Didn't work so well, haha.

i had one of those cars once...i bought it for the grille because no one was repoping the mach1 grille at the time. and buying the car actually was cheaper than buying a good used grille after i parted all the instrumentation
