I got a 66 conv. w/ 302 not 289. fairly new to the game want to start working on it but trying to figure out what type of 302 and or from what year if that really makes a difference assuming early 70's, not sure where should I look to find anumber or anything taht would allow me to figure it out. Any help si geatly appreciated.

its a pain in the neck, but you can get the engine number if you dont mind crawling under the car and looking up at the bottom of the engine block between the starter and the oil pan.

If its a 60s 302 It will have a C8OE 6015 type part number. A 70s 302 would have D followed by numbers like the example above.
