RE: Painting Engine
I've just done it, of course a 6 is much easier. I would recommend that the engine be out of the car and everything to not get paint to be removed from the engine(ex. manifolds, distributor, carb base, sending units,fuel/vacuum lines, fan and spacer, accessory brackets,etc...). I would also recommend a complete cleaning of the exterior of the engine as well as a slight wire brushing to get any loose paint/built up dirt out. Then just spray away.
As for color, that is a personal choice. If you want the factory color, it will depend on year, if custom you need to get the right color for you and the car.

RE: Painting Engine
Bob's right, it's definitely easier with the enigne out, but it can be done with it still in. Just mask off everything you don't want to paint. Lots of tape and paper and most of all, patience! One tip I wanted to offer if you decided to do it with the engine still in, aluminum foil is a good way to mask stuff in addition to tape. Just wrap the foil around what you want to cover. Use the tape at the edges.

RE: Painting Engine
thanks for the tip, that sounds like what i will do. But the color is what im concerned about now, im not really going for stock. Ive got the car painted a good red and the interior and engine compartment are both black. Im also putting a good bit of chrome parts on the engine itself. I was thinking either black or that standard grey most parts come in. Good?/Bad?
