Default Previous owners?

Do you ever find something on your car and wonder what the previous owner must have been thinking? My headlight bucket has never sat in correctly so I took today to figure out what it was. The idiot before me used a normal nut instead of one with a flange or a washer, and wayyyy overtightend it so it sunk down into the metal making it impossible to get a socket on. What funnn...

What didn't the previous owners screw up on my car? Orignially and I-6 with a 3 speed manual, later a v-8 with a c-4 auto but no suspensions/rear end upgrades, horrible interior additions, the list goes on. I was 16 it was my first car, I didn't know any better and man I have done nothing but sink money into it to fix it up, most of the time it has been worth it, but the learning curve on doing it right sucks! My motto for automotive work, "you end up doing everything half right, twice!"

My PO was a bigger newbie than I was I think.

Partially spray painted dash/glove compartment

Hoses disconnected from carb and various PCV hoses just hanging...it's amazing that the car even still ran

Apparently he decided to rewire some things like the headlights so to keep them from hanging to the ground he tied the wires around the export brace and then twisty tied them between the export and the headlight.

There also must've been at least 2 wires/2 lights just hanging that were supposed to be attached to the gauges. They weren't very important (clock & tach; it's an auto) but I'd still like to know what he was thinking when he just decided to leave them unhooked.

Why did my PO(s) tape off my car and repaint it horribly? And why they removed various nuts/bolts wihtout putting them back in instead of throwing them in a cardboard box.

one thing I have to deal with at this moment is the butchered bolt holes for my hood hinges. The PO tore out one of the nuts from each side that are attached to the original sheet metal, so now i gotta dick around finding something that will make my hood line up. Oh and he tried lining up the body panels by himself I think, nothing is straight on my car when you get up close and look at it. Although he did do some nice engine upgrades and picked a beautiful color to paint her!

lets see, my PO used the torque box and a floorboard as a jackstand, thought it was cool to rewire the antenae through the dash, under the carpet, and have it sit in the backseat. 2 PO's ago, he dropped my clevo in it, did a good job hooked everything up, but didnt upgrade the front suspension, just replaced the springs with wrong springs.

My 65 had a 3/4" hole drilled in the dash just below the radio - what could that have been for????

Nice speaker holes Mustanglover. I recently found out that my PO tried using chaulking instead of seam sealer for body panels. Im not sure what the panels are called, but its right below where the water is "supposed" to pour out from ur cowls. Woulda been ok if he did a smooth job but its everywhere. I think we replaced my floors too, so I cant complain much though...
