Is the market soft in the US for classics right now? I've been offered more than my $14,000 price amny times this summer. Not interesed in selling though.
My father sold a 67 Vert Mustang last summer for $13,000 and it needed a lot of cosmetic work including a new paint job and the top was in need of repair even, but it ran solid.

I'm surprised that the market in the US isn't stronger for these cars. Possibly cause there are less of them up here in Canada, with many falling victem to the Salt on our roads in the winter.

2 comments: first there are auto appraiser around that specialize in classic car estimates and if your looking to spend a fair amount it might be wirth paying a few hundred for someone who knows what to look for a provide an accurate assessment of the car's condition as well as it's value.

Second, there is a 65 coupe in town that has been advertised in the paper for the last 8 months for 14,500 with apparently no takers. Car is suppose to be completely restored in excellent condition (whatever that means). I have not seen it but have often wondered how much it costs to list a car for that long.

It was a feature car in a mag because of its high mileage though. Although that's cool for you who else would buy a 200,000+ mile car for more than 2500??

Not accurate at all on classics, but with newer cars they aren't too far from Kelley. I plugged in my 03 Mach, and it came out to just over 21K. That's about what Kelley says too. Even hiring a pro to give you a quote is not accurate when it comes to classics. The owners of the classic cars generally control the value of their cars. Generally, and I use that word rather loosely, the owners add up what they have in the car, then deduct a small percentage and that is what the car is worth.
