I would like to think if I had a 500 original mile Shelby GT500 that those 500 miles would have been on a drag strip.. and next year it would have 600 miles on it...

blashpemous statement about mustang not a performance car
I have to disagree. The FALCON was the car everyone could afford/own. The Mustang was a performance car from the start. Granted it was pretty weak in its first couple years, and yes the I6 was a turd, but it was still a "sporty" car. I dont think Ford originally intended for it to have nearly as much performance as it soon had after its introduction, but performance was still the goal from the start.

Edit: BTW, for the perfect sleeper, read "sucker's bet" in this months issue of Hot Rod. I met Kurt Urban by chance a few years ago when he came into the tire shop I was working in at the time. Cool guy!

The fact is these cars were disposable. If they were on the road for more than 5-8 years they were getting well taken care of. You wouldn't believe how little rust protection was built into these cars until you have stripped one for yourself. Do with your car what you will, to hell with what anyone else thinks.

That is the one thing i like about my Coupe.... it is modded.. with better suspension steering and disc brakes.
it still has the classic lines although i added torq thrust wheels and new tires. when my dad had the car he added a GT grill with running lights just because he liked the look.
I like the look too and i keep it to honor him
my goal is a stock looking car with modern handling.
