Mustang Heate hose HELP

Hi I have a 65 mustang with a 289 (Project) I need to find out where the two heater hoses route to from the top and bottom hole of the fire wall thanks

And if routed backwards would it cause the car to over heat

The top hose coming out of the firewall goes to the water neck (thermostat housing) and the bottom hose goes to the water pump.
