should have 10psi for every 1000rpm to be safe so idle need to be at least 10psi

Rmodel65, I'll check out the plug suggestion. What does this plug do? If the plug was left out, wouldn't oil be pumping out all over the place?

The bearings are shot! The engine temp will not or should not effect the pump, but change it anyway when you overhaul the engine. Don't wait or you will certainly do more damage to your engine and wallet.

Install a real gauge that has numbers. Factory gauges without numbers are not accurate.
